About the company

Green Heron Manufacturing is a new chapter in what will hopefully be a book worth reading. Not only is it a new chapter personally and professionally, it’s a passing of the torch, a legacy carried on.

A bit about myself: I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and was rarely seen outdoors (or indoors) without a stick or branch in my hands that I had fashioned into some sort of sword, spear or firearm. After graduating (more or less) high school I joined the Marine Corps who graciously sent me on a few trips overseas between 2004-07. Following this busy and… interesting.. experience, I eventually made the mental leap connecting my love of making things with my lifelong interest in firearms and went off to Pittsburgh to attend the Pennsylvania Gunsmith School.

I got my start in this industry in 2014 (or thereabouts) after graduating from PGS. Mark Bansner is the man who gave me that start and, to this very day, his support and friendship. We operated Bansner & Co. for quite a few years and, as they say, “change is the only constant.” So in early 2026, after a lot of thought, discussion, and effort Mark and I made the decision to separate the two parts of the business. We believe this is the best way to provide our customers with the best possible service we can. Over the years I’ve gravitated towards the stock design and manufacturing side of things and so, with Mark continuing to head up the custom rifle shop, I started this company whose sole focus is to produce the best composite gunstocks.

Green Heron Manufacturing was born from the willingness to adapt, and faith in this product. I deeply appreciate everyone’s support over the years and I look forward to producing the best gunstocks I possibly can for many years to come!
